Father Edwin Leonard,
Director of Vocations: Dallas, TX
“Encounter has been a foundational program within our young adult community, giving them a common language and profound experience with the Lord through his Word, which is live and active—sharper than any two-edged sword, capable of piercing us to the deepest parts of ourselves."
Father Joshua Whitfield
St. Rita Catholic Church: Dallas, TX
"Communities of Prayer conducted a retreat for our Parish singles’ group last year. Their passion for the Lord and for the life of faith is deep but also gentle and lively. They have the ability to relate to our people in away that was inviting and encouraging. In this ministry, you see that the Catholic faith is about living as a constant recipient of joy, light, and love, all from the Divine Source. The Holy Spirit lights upon this ministry, and through their witness, words, and music, people are able to discover Christ afresh in the Church—in the Eucharist and the other Sacraments, and in the Church’s life of prayer. This ministry is a definite sign that the Catholic Church is being renewed again in our own day."
Rev. Hoa Duc Trinh (Fr. Joseph),
Priest at St. Michael Parish: Grand Prairie, Texas
"Communities of Prayer came to our parish at the perfect time—the Year of Faith. You empowered our people you reenergized our brothers and sisters in the power of the Holy Spirit. Your great spirit, your teamwork, and your song enlivened our community. This is the best parish Lenten reflection we have had in years.”
Rev. James Kubicki S.J.
Former National Director - Apostleship of Prayer: Milwaukee, WI
"Moved by the call of Blessed John Paul II for a new evangelization and for our communities to be 'schools of prayer,' Tom has helped start a group called 'Communities of Prayer.' One of their prayer cards caught my eye because it included the Morning Offering... I think the materials available through Communities of Prayer are ideal for helping us grow in prayer and in our relationship with the Lord. Their "Lectio Divina" booklets can help us make this tried and true method of praying with Scriptures part of our life"
Rev. Marco Rangel
Pastor -Immaculate Conception Catholic Church- Corsicana, TX
Communities of Prayer is a wonderful ministry that uses an effective model reaching out especially to young adults. It fosters a sense of “Church” that goes beyond the Sunday obligation. It connects, reinvigorates, and challenges young adults to live an authentic life of holiness while receiving support and encouragement from peers.
Ministry Leader Testimonials:
Director of Evangelization
St. Ann: Coppell, TX
The work of Tom Grossman and Communities of Prayer is bearing great fruit in the Diocese of Dallas. This ministry is one of the most clear and authentic voices in our diocese to challenge people to a deeper relationship with the Lord through an encounter with him in the Scriptures. Even more than the challenge, Communities of Prayer offers the resources and support to equip people for an ongoing journey of intimacy with our Lord. I can’t recommend Tom and this ministry enough!
Director of Faith Formation and Education
St. Rita Catholic Church Dallas, TX
The heart of this ministry is fully consonant with the mission of the Church and it's resources allowed me the capacity to jumpstart the Young Adult and Campus Ministries at my parish. Drawing from the fundamentals, we were able to bring Communities of Prayer to young adults at differing levels of catechesis and spiritual formation without any loss of effectiveness. In fact, the structure of our Encounter has been ecumenical, introducing even Protestants to the peace of an adoration chapel.
St. Ann Parish Coppell TX
Communities of Prayer presented to our group of around 400 high school teens about how to pray with Scripture and the teens were blown away! It was obvious that the words of the speaker flowed from his relationship with Jesus and his prayer life. He spoke with authenticity and humility and truly connected with our young people and helped them connect with Jesus through Scripture.
Asst. Event Coordinator
Shalom Media USA
It has truly been a pleasure for the Shalom Media USA Program Department to work with you these past few days on the Luminous series and for the viewers of SHALOM WORLD TV. You worked tirelessly, yet joyfully and we are extremely grateful to the Lord for your presence and His words shared through you. You cooperated so well and thanks for the extra time and effort you have put in. We look forward to working together in the vineyard of the Lord for many more years to come.
Director of Family Life
Diocese of Dallas
Communities of Prayer is a ministry that has been very successful in our Diocese and I'm privileged to have had the opportunity to work with them in a Family Life gathering where they did a prayer service for us that was very well done, and set the tone for our day of reflection. It is my vision to have them involved in more of our activities in Family Life as I progress in the development of the department.
Former Coordinator of Young Adults
Diocese of Dallas
COP has an easy to implement program that encourages individual ownership of our shared faith. Working with young adults for the past two years, I have seen their Lectio Divina exercises augment ministries into more full and robust programs.
Director of Young Adult and Campus Ministry, Diocese of Fort Worth and Catholic Campus Minister at The University of Texas at Arlington
Tom Grossman and Communities of Prayer have been an inspiration and support to, not only my ministry to Young Adults, but other ministries in the Diocese of Fort Worth. Specifically the Encounter program that he started and so willingly shares with others. The young adults that attend Encounter truly do experience the living Jesus in Eucharistic form, through meditation on the Gospel and through sharing of their faith experiences. In addition to the Encounter program Tom is a constant voice of support and friend in ministry. He is person who builds others up personally and in their ministries.

"Impressive! Communities of Prayer is an excellent resource. COP provided a valuable service to our youth when they put on our retreat on prayer for our high schoolers. We enjoyed and appreciated their many selections of music, games, activities, and teachings on prayer and its various forms. Thank you for making it such a meaningful retreat for our youth."
